Hello. Is there anybody out there? Guess what. Today is my blogaversary. It’s been one year since I anxiously clicked that publish button and officially became a blogger. Sometime in the past year, you found me. And you’ve read my posts, and made things from them, and told me how much you like them. And you keep coming back! I love you, my baking and crafting friends. Even if we’ve never met. I am so grateful you make time in your day to read my blog. Would you do me a favor? Would you tell me a little bit about yourself? I’m so curious about you, you see.
And if you’ve been reading me so far, maybe you won’t mind a little reminiscing today. I wanted to share some of my favorite posts with you.
Here’s my first post. Why, of all things, did I launch a blog with a recipe for dip? Honestly, I can’t say. I was a newbie.
The vanilla extract post has always been my favorite. It was when I started making my own extract that people started suggesting I write a blog, although sometimes they looked at me like I was a little bit tapped when they said it. I also love the vodka label I made on the bottle. So perhaps they have a point.
The chevron baby blanket post is what took my blog from being read by a few friends and my mother (look, 10 people were on my blog today) to having an actual audience. I’m still a little amazed by the idea of all these babies being wrapped up in something I dreamed up in my head. I hope it’s keeping them warm and on trend. 🙂
Blog love from Crafts Beautiful! I couldn’t believe they wanted to feature me! I was a little confused that they contacted me through Etsy. Then I realized I had no contact info on my blog. Thanks for searching me out, Rianna! And there’s my first profile pic for the blog. I’m wearing a mustache because I didn’t want to look cute in my photo. Remember the mustache thing? That’s over now, right?
DIY snowglobes. Something I wanted to do for years. It took having a blog to finally motivate me to make them. I love the little deer in the background.
Pink lemonade cupcakes. I spray painted the lemons and was tickled by that for a solid week.
Donuts. I had just been to the Claes Oldenburg exhibit at MOMA, and I was obviously still influenced by it when I shot this picture. My homage in sugar to a Pop Art master.
And a brand new heirloom birthday banner for my darling Ella. I may call her a dictator from time to time on this blog, but she fills my whole heart. She also says I can make anything, a wonderful side effect of writing a DIY blog. She keeps asking for a robot, though.
And here is a cake I baked today. I baked it for you. Thank you for reading.
Happy anniversary!! I love the image of the cake, it’s lovely. What kind of cake is it. I have been following you for some time now, enjoy your blog, thank you for the effort.
Kat- thanks, I love hearing it! The cake is “old fashioned birthday cake” from the Cooks Illustrated cookbook. The frosting is meringue frosting from the same book. I chose it mostly so I could use my little blowtorch (any excuse to use the blowtorch).
Happy Blogaversary! I always anxiously await your posts and am so impressed by all that you do. I often have high hopes of trying out things from your blog (currently thinking of those bath bombs for holiday gifts…), and even though I don’t always execute them, it’s fun to fantasize about it and live vicariously through your beautiful photos. Congrats, and please keep ’em coming!!
Thanks, Jess!
Happy Blogaversary!!! Your blog makes me happy and I cannot wait to see what else you have in store for us. XOXOXO
Thank you, Sharon. I’m so happy to hear my blog makes you happy. I love connecting with people this way.
